"Everybody act according to the season that they born in" Some are the night, some are the morning, some at noon Some in winter, some in June It's our code, it's the natural The science is a joke For me and mines, yours and you Let's move, tell you a little about mine, yo I was born in a season where the world was quiet and cold Celebrations were going on Some were happy, some were sad Some felt bad from being good Some felt good from being bad, feelings pass and change but they never leave, they here to stay Holiday, holiday, happy birthday Teenage love, the first cut run deep Soul on flesh, this is the Brooklyn streets Year of the Ox, seven and three M.D., the history (come on) Every soul got wonder D (yes) It's where you been and where you be And without understanding you cannot proceed Complete, the start and the end Then it just go round again... again

Download: Andrew Meza - LuckyMe £ and Pancakes Mixtape (97MB : Running Time: 42 minutes)
BTS Radio is the illest. Without BTS radio I probably wouldn’t be into so much of the great music I listen to now daily and this site wouldn’t exist. Andrew Meza knows music - seriously if you don’t know, you’ll soon know. LuckyMe is also popping off lately so be sure to check out their parties and features. Enjoy this dope mix and watch out for BTS Radios return shortly!

The Hi-Lifes Jam Session with Invisible Inc., Boston 2008
As I mentioned in the iLL-Lit iB4the1.1 post, I had the pleasure of going on tour with iLL-Literacy last year, playing guitar. This video was taken in Boston at the home of George Watsky of Invisible Inc. after an electrifying show we had with them at Boston College.
This was one of the greatest musical experiecnes of my life. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Homework:

“Reflection is collection of memories…”
I’ve been going through a lot of old pictures from albums my mom had been putting together her whole life. She shows up in some of them, but most seem to be of the rest of the family. So as I look through them I realize that all of these moments are captured from her perspective. Moments that she chose to capture and remember.
Sometimes I wonder why some stuff played out the way it did throughout me & my family’s lives, but thats what it’s about; the hardships, the heartbreaks, the struggle, the sacrifice, the experience. We remember what we learn from and put the rest aside.
These picture albums are more than what we need to fill in the blanks of our life & our history. Your memory will never be lost.
Happy Birthday to my mother
cheers to another year of reflection…
give thanks

Special Fundraiser Event in Collaboration with Vajra Watson, Ed.D. & Sacramento Area Youth Speaks:
Greetings,
It is with urgency that I send you this email.
Our close friend (more like family), Judah Harris, is being wrongly accused and he is being charged with 2 Consecutive Life Sentences. We are confident that the evidence in the case will absolve him of these erroneous charges. However, we fear that with a general public defender, Judah will not receive a just defense. As you probably know, public defenders have outrageous case loads. Accordingly, it’s probable that Judah will have various lawyers, none of whom will have the time to talk with him, each lawyer picking up the notes from the person before. This is not a defense; rather, the revolving door of justice could cost Judah his life. As such, it is imperative we secure a criminal defense attorney. We have found a wonderful lawyer, Michael Thorman, who can commit the necessary time to the case, examining the evidence and proving Judah’s innocence.
I have known Judah and his family nearly my entire life. We grew up together in Berkeley and have always stayed in touch. To my children, Judah is their fun-loving uncle, to the community, he is a mentor to misled youth, and to his family, Judah is their strength and only father-figure. Judah is a leader and a gifted mentor. Amidst these positive outlets, Judah’s life has been paved with barriers, misfortune, and pain. The circumstances of his current, dire predicament, is yet another extreme example. In so many ways, Judah’s story is one of abandonment and abuse. And yet, with a glimpse of opportunity, he could have been so many things…
Judah fits the profile of far too many young brothers trying to survive. He is 26 years old, African-American, and a high-school dropout. His circumstance paints a bleak picture of the many ways (both personal and structural) poverty traps. Too often, the disenfranchised grow up to be disenfranchised. And today, his cycle of oppression, is right before our eyes. Does Judah deserve fair representation in the court system? Yes. Can he afford fair representation? No.
Judah has been targeted for a crime he did not commit. Since he cannot afford a criminal defense attorney, more often than not, the scales of justice will not weigh in his favor. This is a life or death case.
Judah’s loved ones have been applying for personal loans, but no one has the credit to secure anything. In these harsh economic times, it is hard for us to know what to do.
Although Judah is never one to ask for help, it has really come to this. Even though he is skeptical that anyone will lend a helping hand, I believe in our common good. I have one hand outstretched to GOD in prayer and I have my other hand outstretched to you for help. I believe that if each person can just give a little, perhaps these small gifts of kindness will amount to justice for Judah. For these reasons, I am asking (really begging) for your help so that we can secure legal representation. We have a very short timeframe to raise the remaining $4,000 for the lawyer. If you can make a contribution within the next few days, we will be able to move forward.
IF YOU ARE ABLE TO MAKE A MONETARY CONTRIBUTION:
Any/all contributions will go directly to the lawyer. If you need any further information, I am more than happy to speak with you.
